     Loud snoring can be very funny to hear, but the fact is, for the person that snores and their family it can be a very annoying problem. It is a surprisingly common problem with up to 40% of middle-aged men classed as snorers, and about 20% of women are suffers and the number goes up after menopause.

    Try Giving Up Some Bad Habits
    A good place to start would be to stop smoking, this will help keep your airways clear and you might live longer. Alcohol is another contributing factor. So best to cut out the drinking, or if not make it just an occasional one, just not before bed time. Stop eating fatty foods like fast food as this over time will start to clog the air passage.

    What can you do
    For extreme cases there is surgery, or laser treatment, but this can cost $5,000 or more and as with any surgery there are risks. So what can be done to stop snoring without going under the knife?

    Doing specialized exercises to stop snoring is a great alternative. However this has to be combined with other factors.

    Stop Snoring Exercises
    There are two sets of exercises to stop snoring. The first are general fat burning exercises to lose weight over the whole body. The reason for this is it will reduce the fatty tissue around the neck which helps keep the airway open and reduce pressure on the diaphragm. Theres no point going into details about these exercises as there are thousands of web sites dedicated to this subject.

    The exercises to stop snoring I want to concentrate on are to help strengthen the throat, tongue and jaw muscles to stop your air passage from becoming blocked.

    Voice Exercises
    To strengthen your throat, this is a great exercises that professional singers use:
    Sing La-La-La-La at the top of your voice holding each La for 3 seconds repeat this 5 times. Focus on your neck and throat muscles when you do this. Then do the same thing singing Ka-Ka-Ka-Ka and finally end the set of 3 with Ma-Ma-Ma-Ma don’t strain your muscles but concentrate on giving them a good workout.

    Do these exercises twice a day, and if combined with a healthy lifestyle will go along way to giving you a much need peaceful sleep..

    Facial exercises
    Try pushing your tongue out as far as you can, hold for 10 seconds then relax. Next put your out tongue and try to touch your chin hold 10 seconds then relax and the third one of the set, push your tongue out and try to touch your nose. Repeat the set of three 10 times. Do an exaggerated smile hold for 10 seconds, then relax. Do this as many times as you can (by the way, do these exercises on your own or tell your family what you are up to so they don’t call for psychiatric help!)
